Julie Simpkins brings over 30 years of proven experience in the Senior Living Industry to the Co-President role. Her extensive background encompasses skilled nursing, independent living, private pay assisted living, and affordable assisted living. Julie’s expertise includes marketing, sales, operations, managing multiple payor sources, and leadership development.
Julie serves on the board of directors for the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) and holds several key positions, including NCAL State Leader Chair and a member of the NCAL Policy and Regulatory Committee. Additionally, she is on the board of directors for the Indiana Health Care Association (IHCA) and serves on its Assisted Living Advisory Board and Government Affairs Committee. Julie is also a member of the Ohio Healthcare Association Assisted Living Board of Directors and the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition (AALC IL) Legislative and Regulatory Committee.
Simpkins spoke about Gardant’s model of developing and operating affordable assisted living communities that are designed to primarily serve low-income income older adults who rely on Medicaid-waiver programs. The communities are located throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland, and serve approximately 7,6000 low-income older adults.
“The overwhelming majority of assisted living residents and their families benefit from having a life-affirming, safe experience,” Simpkins said.
